Why has Ford been copying Dodge on their front suspension?
1st gen Dodge, leaf fronts, SFA
1st gen Fords, TTB IFS crap
2nd gen Dodge, coil sprung SFA, in 94
2nd gen Ford, leaf springs SFA, in 99
3rd gen Dodge, still coil sprung SFA
2005+, Ford goes to coil sprung SFA
Seems like Dodge has always been one step ahead of Ford in this department. I have never seen a Dodge Ram with the Twin Traction Beam front end. I had it on my 86 6. 9 liter F-250. When the springs sagged watch out for toe camber!!!!!
I have coil suspension, but not for long, getting air bags real soon.
Comments? Was Ford R&D just waiting for Dodge to be the guinea pig with the suspension design? Who knows.
What next, PSD becoming an inline! Hehe
