Off to E. Tenn this evening to pick up a 1968 Kaiser M725 ex-Navy Ambulance to be converted into a Cummins Powered Conversion Camper.

My thoughts revolve around rolling a First Gen Std. cab Frame & P7100 equipped Cummins/NVG4500HD under the old girl. Modern Frame/Powertrain w/ Classic, Vintage Toughness!

Photos to follow soon... ...

After this project..... My next ambition would be to put a Cummins 4BTA/NVG into a Vintage 109 Land Rover w/ some real axles.

Dreaming... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

how about a new Freightliner Unimog with a 8. 3 or ISL in it. Twins and stacks. HooRaa:D

I am finally getting some time to work on it again. Had to build fences and barns and gates and...

The engine/transmission/tc is sitting on the frame. Driveshaft and rearend are in. One fuel tank is in and other about ready. Need to run fuel return lines. Have a firewall/cowl sitting on frame and have the hydraulic clutch setup figured out. It appears to be simpler than what I feared it would be. Next and last real hurdle will be getting radiator, inter cooler and condensor in the available space.

I am still trying to decide on paint. I want to go arrest-me-red but it goes bad so fast in this heat. The truck is a butter yellow that looks bad. I don't really like white...

Dream swap

A Ramcharger with a CTD would do it for me. That might get the wife to part with the 93 Grand Cherokee(160K). However,at the Studebaker regional meet, there was a 51-52 Studie truck body on a first gen chassis,Ctd,5speed. Kept the Dodge floor, cowl, and all HVAC stuff. Nice rig, very different.

If I had the time I'd drop a CTD in a '63 Cadillac convertible, beef up the rear suspension, mount a 5th wheel on the trunk and use it to pull a 42' fiver. Can't you see me now, passing all you guys in your Dodges on every hill, neck scarf flappin in the breeze.

I am very, very afraid!!

Talk about a crusing truck!

I found one of those "C" Cummins motors the other day in great shape. I didn't need it, but I can get it for you if you wanted one. And it was cheap! Complete Too, and runs. Out of a wreck. 70,000 miles. I'll be going up that way in the next month or two so I could haul it back to Texas if you're serious. He has some other parts I may get for myself.

hmm... . my toy truck would be an older chevy[early 60's] reg cab and make it into a sports truck with an isb backed by a built 6 speed trans [i wonder if those richmond rod-6 trannys would hold up to cummins??] with a vgt turbo on it making around 400-450rwhp putting power to the ground through some nice 300+mm wide tires on 18" or 20" with dual 4"exhaust coming out just behind the rear bumper with turndowns to make the exhaust not visiable [other than the smoke & music:-laf] in a dark midnite blue color with a silver metal flake over it...

i also have sick thoughts of getting an ls6 v8 gm engine, putting a roots blower on it, getting a t-56 6 speed and dropping that into a gmc safari van a... that would be the ultimate soccer mom/dad sleeper vehicle... could roast some rice with that... :-laf

My ultimate truck will some day be this:

Take one Dump truck, convert it to air ride.

Drop in a C16 Cat (600hp should due)

Get a Eaton 18spd trans

Get one Chevy Pickup, 4 door long box.

W I D E N the truck so the tires etc fit under the body,

put air ride seats in it, custom rear seat, etc.

Get the biggist dang trailer I could find, load it up to about 40,000lbs and go look for a Ford guy that thinks he can pull it... ... .
