Cummins power, can't see what it is with the cab down.

Allison does the shiftin'

Air Disc Brakes to stop it.

That's at least an 18,000lb front axle, possibly 20,000lb with that spring pack.

Sorry Ryan,

It was complete and total madness out there this morning and didn't make it back for the completed job. Wanted some shots of the interior also.

Besides, if I hang around out there very much I will be pressed into service drilling and studding truck tires... ...

They had two guys studding truck tires all day as it is.

It looks to be a long way around a truck tire one stud at a time.

Mike.

Awesome fire truck.

When my Dodge dually was brand new a kid came walking up to me and asked if it was a fire truck.

Just got together here for a stud count on the Fire Truck

1600 Studs!!!! 300 for each of the 4 drive tires and 200 each for the steers.

Good grief, can you imagine the traction something in that weight class must have with studded tires!?

A beautiful machine, for sure. What business are you in, Wilson?

Hi Ryan,

I am a Parts Manager at a truck dealership in Bangor, Maine.

We sell Freightliner, Western Star, Thermo King, Mitsubishi Trucks, and Barko Log Loaders.

Also certified in Cummins, Cat, Detroit Diesel and Mercedes Engines.

We also have in-house tire retreading facilities, tire chamber, the whole deal. We deal in Goodyear, Michelin and other brands of truck tires.

We have a 50' paint booth and our own paint mixing equipment.

We are also one of the dealers that support the Pelletier Family on American Loggers for those of you that follow that program on the Discovery Channel.

We work on whatever rolls in the driveway, if it doesn't fit in a 14' door then we work on it outside.

I forget just how much we are capable of until I start to list it out.....

I realized a while back that the stuff that rolls through here and that I kind of take for granted might be interesting to some of the folks that are members of the TDR.

Try to grab the ole' camera a little quicker now. ;)

Wilson.

We run a Smeal 75' Quint. They are made in Snyder Nebraska. That truck has alot more beels and whistles than our 93 model! Belive it or not the pump panels are highly refined on the newer trucks. Thanks for posting

Nice thread MWilson.
JDiehl, you are correct in the "newer pumpers being more refined" Our 2007 E-One is much easier to operate than the old 85 Seagraves we still maintain.

Just like JDiehl said Smeal is out of Snyder Nebraska and was started by my brother-in-laws Dad Don Smeal. Smeal makes some awesome rigs and proud to see part of Nebraska posted on TDR.

I'd be curious why they opted for studded tire (a permanent fixture) vs. an automatic chain system (e. g. , Insta-Chain

One would assume they won't de-stud the tires during the non-snow months. See's like a rather large reoccurring expense.

BTW. Nice looking truck.

We have been buying all Pierce trucks lately. They are very nice and I have no complaints. I know the city garage likes them also. All of our first line engines and trucks are Pierce now.
