Check out what the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia has in store for the construcion industry. A LOT of construction Co's will go under before this is over and the cost of building everything will go up dramatically. Basically, they are making ALL older diesels VERBOTEN; they will have to be parked or sold (probably to Mexico).

This is an industry web site with appropriate links.

That will serve them really well in the event of a big earthquake or other natural disaster if they need a large amount of construction equipment quickly.

Belive me i know. I have been dealing with the paperwork on this for about the last month. anything above 50hp has to be registered. and guess what, by 2017 it requires all engines meet a standard that the technology isnt even available for yet(tier 5)Id have to look but if im not mistaken our brand new 06 deere is only tier 3

boy they really love my ram out here

also got a chance to look at the new otr trucks(2007) at the world of concete in vegas last week. The 6. 7 sytems look like a piece of cake compared to the big trucks.

CAT passed on the last change in diesel engine technology and has been paying a fine per engine produced because they saw the change in engines needed for off road equipment as well as over the road stuff... . so for 2007 CAT introduced new engine design that will allow them to install these engines in all their equipment..... so I'm guessing that CAT is the only engine builder right now that can maybe take a 2 or 3 year old grader, track hoe, or other machine, and when the engine is tired... install a new engine that will meet standards... . anyway that was their goal 5 years ago... .

So instead of dumping this newer equipment that isn't worn out... but having the ability to upgrade the machinery with current engine technology.....

Hope this helps. .
