My Ign switch is acting up - have to jiggle it to get acc. to work.
Is it worth it to get an OEM part or would I do just as well to go with something like a Dorman part and save $100?

Thanks,
Scott

I had a similar thing with my AC blower not working and it seemed to work if I moved the key around, but I replaced the resisitor since I had read that can also be an issue and that fixed my problem.

Yeah, this is pretty clearly the switch.
I've also seen that the harness to the switch can get burnt. Wondering if I should just have that on hand as well when I do the repair.

It tended to be the earlier trucks that melted the connector. You might check and see if one is available locally just in case before you go to change it.

Thanks Stan. My truck is an early one - 09/02.
I can have one pretty quick from Amazon if I need it. I'm hoping that if the two usuall wires are damaged, I can just replace those two and remove all the other wires from the old housing and insert them in the new one.
At least that's my plan.

Still wondering if an OEM or after-market switch is the way to go..

I would stick to oem-they are usually better quality. Some aftermarket switches are very cheap.I have never used a dorman so can't comment on that brand

Thanks Bob.
Dorman tries to redesign for weaknesses in the oem stuff but from what I have found, they are only partially succesful in many cases. In other cases they make a better product.
I'll probably just do the OEM and not take any chances.

OEM is paying for the name brand, at times it's worth it to know what you are getting. Often the aftermarket product is identical, made in the same factory, where the OEM purchase the part.. in this case I don't know specifically about Dorman, but they are a big aftermarket supplier, so likely they are OK.
