Had a problem on my recent trip to La-La land. Shut off the truck and could not get the key off accessary position, which kept the power on but the engine off. Had this happen about a month ago and wrestled with it for about five minutes and finally figured out I may have not fully set the trans in park. This time I tried everything over and over. I had just arrived at a business to pick up a car and had to abort and go to a dealer in Glendale. Got there and checked in. Key still would go to off and allow me to remove it. Service rep moved the truck and still would not come out. Wait for it.......the mechanic gets in to move it to his work stall and when he gets there, it goes to off and he is able to remove it. *$#&%@!!!!!!!!
But they somehow determined there is a module that regulates the function of the key fob and that it had an intermittent problem, requiring replacement. Wait for it.......It's not available anywhere in California and there would be a 4 day wait for the part. I had no choice but to leave the dealership without the repair to pick up the car and return home. So far it has not malfunctioned again but it's only a matter of time.
Anyone heard of this? My truck does have the remote start function if that matters.
I will have to go to the nearest dealer I suppose, a couple times, to get a diagnosis and repair if they will do it based on what the Glendale mechanic said.
