Not a unique, nor a first for the topic. Recently I misplaced my truck keys and after several days searching, I called the dealer to price having a new key made. Because I had only one key, they quoted me nearly $300!!! For a single key! I nearly went into shock but decided to make an even more careful search.
I did finally find my keys and decided I wouldn't let that happen again. I bought 2 matching key blanks from Amazon for about $15 and called a locksmith about cutting the blanks. He proceeded to chastise me for buying them online but finally agreed to cut them for me. Today I went to the link provided by the key seller which gave directions for programming the keys. The first went smoothly. The second didn't work at first but was successful the second. Both function perfectly.
I now have 2 spare keys that appear to be exact copies of my original that cost me about $20. What a deal!
