This has been going on for a little while. Every now and then, I'll try to start the truck and get nothing except dash idiot lights and the such. Turn the key and nothing. If I keep turning the key back in forth it will catch, sometimes on the 2nd or 3rd, sometimes on the 10th or more and the truck fires off like nothing is wrong. Any ideas as to what this may be? Thanks for any input.

It could be either the ignition switch or the neutral start switch in the transmission. Or witing to these devises.

Don't for get the starter solinoid contacts, see if you can jump the ing. wire at solinoid, also use a test lite at that point to see if when the starter does not turn that your getting power there [2 people needed]

The reason I didn't think that it would be the contacts is that I replaced them with the LarryB's heavy duty ones a couple of years back. They should last longer than that. It does seem to happen more in cooler weather if that makes a difference.

when that happen on my 94' their was a wire that was comming lose in the steering column. Got it fixed dealer in Masa, Az. My truck wouldn't start if I tilted steering wheel down but, would start if it was all the way up.
