Professional Grade Engineering at it's best with GMC!

Where do they hear this stuff???

Need a little more power from it. It's my Dad's truck and it's a 1993 International. He doesn't want much, just enough to make 5th gear not seem so tall. It's a stack retriever that started life as a Ryder truck. Bottom end was rebuilt about 7500 miles ago. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

p. s. It has a Bosch fuel injection system on it.

well it depends on the pump. they came with a ve style and a inline A-pump. if its a VE style there is a plate on the top or side with 4 bolts holding it on, remove it and there should be the fuel screw. if its a inline pull the back cover off the AFC housing and lossen the jam nut and turn the 14mm nut out 2-3 turns.

Andy,

I'm not familiar with the differences in the pumps or the procedure you are talking about. I didn't have my dig camera with me so I couldn't take any pictures of it. From your descriptions it sounds like the A pump you are talking about.

Can someone post a picture of the different pumps so I can identify it properly? It's about 10" wide looking at it from the side of the engine on the intake side and roughly 4" tall.

Any problems with EGT's doing this? Should he upgrade the turbo?

He also would like to know if he could put a different (Cummins I hope) engine in it that would bolt up? What about a transmission that has a few more gears? We can make any brackets for the accessories he would need to make it work. Thanks very much for your help!

Mark,

A A-pump is inline. a ve is a rotary pump. as far as the turbo goes i don't know what size comes on the trucks. but my guess is that its the same as the buses and that its alright. if theres anything you need help with let me know.

a in-line pump all the injection lines are " in a line" on top of the pump. a rotary pump the lines are on the back of the pump towards the cab and are in a circle.
