Believe my injection pump has failed. Truck died while driving. I have been looking at service manual for checks to perform to determine it is the Injection Pump, fuel flows through filter to pump when checked at pressure points on Fuel filter, When bleeding ijectors to see if fuel is being pumped at all by the Injection pump only Injector 3 has fuel coming out as motor turns over. It squirts fuel every time motor turns over. If this is something other than injection pump failure, please let me know. I will try to put video link on here so that it can be seen. Any Info will be greatly appreciated.

how much fuel is being squirted? a little bit will leak out if you bleed the lines. but it will stop if your vp44 is bad. let me know if you need a new pump.

I would pull codes, see how many are for the VP, at least would confirm problem... have to use a code reader on a '99... mine went all of a sudden, had most of the VP codes also.

More Injection pump Blues

Getting Fuel to all injectors, but truck still won't crank. it sounds like it fires just for a second but then nothing. Smarty box says still getting trouble code P1688, Internal Fuel injection Pump Controller Failure. Would the mechanical parts still be pumping fuel with out the controller? Anyway to replace just the controller? When bleeding the injectors all are flowing like the shown in video clip earlier.

That's the kiss of death!

According to the Dodge Diagnostic Manual, that code means you replace the fuel injection pump.

The injection pump rebuilder would test and replace the control board if necessary.

Sorry,

I dont know of any rebuilders that will R&R only the board... doubt the cost advantage would be worth it in the long run anyhow.
I believe the pump will still flow fuel when the electronics are fried, there will be no timing with it I would imagine.
I have bought two from Midwest Fuel Injection, $1046 including shipping (and return shipping for core) and they dont charge in advance for the core as long as it is returned w/in 30 days. Have a year on one with no problems, 3 months on the other.

Hey, fixed my truck, ordered new pump from Midwest Fuel Injection. Then install went smooth, only took about a day to put in FASS, and New Pump.
