The brake pull returned a week ago.
It's been about a month since I adjusted the back brakes, cleaned and lubed the pins and bushings; and, scuffed the Performance Friction pads up front. I did it about a two months ago and never planned to do it monthly. I decided to replace the calipers so I bought a set Sunday night.
These calipers (cannot remember the brand but I could not pronounce it) used the original pins and bushings which I cleaned and lubed and I scuffed the PF pads as usual. Same brake pull if not worse and the front end clunked when I applied the brakes. The new calipers had a lot more clearance between the machined surfaces that keep the caliper from spinning along the same axis as the wheel rotation.
Took the calipers back and bought a set remanufactured by Raybestos which cost 55. 00 each. Came with new pins, bushings and a set of red metallic pads. Took about an hour to install both sides and the truck stops straight and much harder than before. The pins (bolts) can be removed from the metal bushings and they also have a step which will hold more grease.
I tried to return the Performance Friction pads for a new set but the store said forget it. I was told that uneven pad wear indicated a sticking caliper and that was not warranty. Performance Friction told me over the phone, that they had a "satisfaction guaranteed" policy. Not complaining, just letting you know for reference.
