Fan Clutch Locked Up - Stock or Performance

Well this mourning my new HOG 4" stainless steel exhaust system arrived, WOW... . is this thing beautifull or what? I never seen a HOG system I person, so I was truely impressed. I did unpack every thing, and there was no damage like alot of members have experianced. The finish is beautifull, almost feel guilty putting it under the truck. I will get insalling it this week-weekend, and let you know how it all goes. I ordered the 6" tip, it is 24" long and looks like a cannon. Also everything was wraped well and the finish is great. All the mounting hardware, clamps are stainless. Oh... the downpipe is huge looking next to the stocker. i'll log back in later and give an update.

I'm so stoked, this is the coolest exhaust I've ever seen. And I had a dragster that had a sharp custom exhaust for a turbo setup!

Ok heres the skinny,

First thanks for all the PM's, and I'll try and answer your questions.

1. The system came with down pipew/flange, two sections on straight pipe, one tail pipe, muffler, tip, hangers and band clamps.

2. Everything in the kit was stainless steel, every hanger, nut, washer, as well as the band clamps.

3. System went on very easy, pipes slid together nice and band clamps are a very nice upgrade.

4. Since I have a long bed, extended cab, nothing hade to be cut, just bolt it up.

5. All hangers were there, I had two left over so I suppose they were for a different model truck?

6. They offer three types of mufflers, I chose the "quiet" one, It's not that loud, there is a deep tone to it, and you can really hear the high pitch of the turbo from the back of the truck. I only started it up, and ran it for a minute or so, just checking.

7. Hardest part is getting the old exhaust system off. I took the elbow loose at the turbo, and cut the system in two places with a plasma torch. Then put the headpipe in a vice and removed the flange bolts. Much easier then trying to loosen them on the truck.

If you want more noise you can turn the muffler arround, I might do that just to see the difference.

8. Only thing I have to do is make a hanger for the large 6" tip, not too bad, probably only take 20-30 min to fab up.

9. This system is huge compaired to the stocker, I laid the two together and it's amazing. The stocker has several places were they reduce the pipe adding alot of restrictions. I was running no muffler before this install, and the sound isn't too much different, just deeper, and the high pitch of the turbo. It will be some time before I tow with it.

10. Couldn't wait, was only suppose to remove old system today, but it went so well I just couldn't stop. I can honestly say I would recommend this system, It's beautiful, well made, and easy to install, I really like the ss band clamps-much nicer then the old u-bolts.

:D

The hog system is extremely complete and well priced. It's nice to be able to get a kit that's stainless for nearly the same as an aluminized system. I was so impressed with the kit that DTT now carries this system at a TDR special price. :D :D

Man does that 6" tip sound and look sweet. :D :D

y-knot,

Where did you get the Hog system? Is the down pipe that hooks to the turbo a 3 inch inlet or do you have a turbo that has a 4"exhaust? I have never heard of the hog exhaust and am curious.

Daniels,

I purchased the system from the factory, pm me if you want details? I have a HX-35,like most people, but there down pipe is a true 4" system, none of this 3- 3 1/2 pipe flare it out after the first bend stuff. They have the turbo flang, then right after (2-3"), they cone out to the 4" pipe. Most manufactures do not do this because it is more expensive, takes time, but It does flow nice. The cone-out is around 4-5", and is keep very smooth. You will not find alot about there systems, because most people seem to be drawn toward the cheapest price. They go to rip's or look on the web (ebay, ect. ), those systems are cheaper, but you get what you pay for?

Thanks for the information guys.

y-knot,

I checked on the site url that TheWolf sent me and it said that they had them for the 98 and upward but nothing for the 94 thru 98. 5. I wrote them and am waiting back for their reply. From your post I see that your truck is the same year as mine so they must make them for mine also. Thanks for all the info.

another option

You might want to check with Rip in regards to the Hogg system. Free, honest advice. He does guarantee the lowest price 866. 211. 1533Oo. Oo.

Got my HOG tip there and more than satisfied.

Yes, you are right that is what the web site says, but I called and talked to them, and the systems are the same (94-97,98-02), I think it was a editing error when the page was made. I was as concerned as you, but everything fit great, and I was very pleased. If you like the system, go ahead and get it, you will be glade you did. Good luck:)
