Alright, I have owned my truck for almost two years now, and the stock transmission has limited my bombing until now. I can't make myself pull out a perfectly good transmission, so it's time to tear it up.

The only power upgrades I have done so far are an EZ, K&N FIPK, and pinning the wastegate shut.

I really like quick spooling bottom end power, so I don't think I will be increasing turbo size until I have to. I am thinking... .

***swapping the EZ for a comp

***adding a set of injectors

***magnaflow 4" exhaust

I am not looking to take my truck to the dragstrip, just some good all around street grunt. My max and pretty much only towing is a 8k lb race trailer about once a month.

???What are my injector limitations running a stock turbo???

???Will the 4" exhaust be adequate???

Maybe I will start a poll to guess at how long the stock transmission will last and what is going to fail first.

A comp and injectors will almost certainly take out your transmission. Especially if you tow with it.

But you really should try to talk youself into getting your transmission work done BEFORE you destroy it. It could save you some money to do it that way. If you grenade your trans, it's going to take more to get it right then if you take a good trans in there and have it upgraded.

Just my opinion,

Maybe I have a misunderstanding of how the transmission upgrade works. I am/was assuming that I order a new transmission/torque converter and receive a complete unit. I also assumed there would be a core charge until I sent my transmission back to them.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I just can't see sending in a perfectly good transmission as a core.

Fourwhls,

I just ordered the whole transmission from DTT. It will ship this coming week. I will send my transmission back after I get the DTT in, it is expensive but I plan on having the truck for another 300000 miles, so it will pay for itself. Call Bill or Stefan at DTT if this does not answer your questions.

fourwhls, I noticed your in Virginia Beach, VA. You should get in touch with Tim Barber. On the DTR, he goes by TiminVa. He could give you excellent advice on your transmission questions. PM me if you cannot find him.

What trans are you going with in particular? Most are rebuilds with the most heavyiest of duty stuff in them when done. Dude you thrash that unit and it WILL cost you more because damage needs fixin before improving. Kinda like burning down your own house the night BEFORE the addition is going to be built.
