Well, I went and did it. Since my teenage years I have always been intrigued by heavy equipment. Always jumped at the chance to drive or operate something with a diesel engine in it. Still, thirty some odd years later, I still enjoy it just as much. Well about a month ago, I was window shopping on Ebay and found what I thought was a nice looking 1996 Dodge 3500 Extended cab SLT CTD. 111,200 miles, almost perfect leather interior, polished alumiumun wheels, Rear sliding window and sunroof. I thought what the heck, I'll bid 10,000 on it and someone will out bid me and that will be the end of the story. Well the next thing I knew I was having to explain to my wife that I had to fly to Texas from Alabama to get the truck I had bought on Ebay. After about 3 beers and a couple of xanax tablets my wife was finally calm enough that I could explain my passions for wanting such a vehicle. Really, I have the best wife in the whole world as she finally said if that is what I wanted she would go to Texas and get it for me. So I left one Friday morning, picked the truck up at the dealership and drove the 12 hours back home. When my wife got up the next morning all she would say is "That's a damn big truck". I have since put about 3000 miles on the truck without using a drop of oil. I could not be more pleased with it. I have owned a few Chrysler products in the past, but this one has to be the best, after all it is a CTD. I am getting about 18. 5 mpg around here and got right at 20 mpg on the trip back home. It has a couple of dings and small dents in it that are not that noticable and I can live with that. I think it looks good. Some people may think 10000 is alot for a 1996 model but I am pleased with it. Everything works as it is supposed to except the fuel guage. When it is on empty I still have a half a tank. Kind of had me concerned about fuel mileage until I figured it out. Anyway, I just became a paid member of TDR and wanted to share my excitment with everyone. Also, I think this has to be one of the best websites I have ever been to and I am amazed at all the info and willingness to help that I see on this board. I hope if and when the time comes for me to need help that I can come here for info and advice about my (new to me) CTD. Sorry for such a long post, I'm just so excited.
