Just had to have my 01. 5 HO im'ed to get my new tags for the year and even with the EZ on it passed with flying colors. I noticed a lot of smoke after the EZ add on, and thought it wouldn't pass our test here. I was going to leave it on to find out and then remove it to have it retested the next day after it failed. Well, I got fooled, it passed with it on and I was totally supprised. The Tech doing the test even commented on it being real clean.

I thought the same thing , I did mine two years ago with the EZ on and it passed. this year I had the DDII's in and thought I would be in throuble, it smokes like a train now, but it still passed at like a 4 and a . 9 on there opacity reading. Not bad since the limit is 30.

Was just about to post the same thing here... Just got mine done about 10 min. ago here in Boise. Got a 0. 495 % Opacity with an allowed 40% :) Was thinkin I should have turned the comp up and stabbed the throttle just to see... but decided it best to pass and be happy. Comp was on 1 / 1 by the way. Also, do they have you guys in UT bring it to red line and off 3 times?? That's what the guy here told me to do, so I gently rolled it up to 3000, I think he wanted me to stomp on it to get it up there, but he didn't complain when I took it easy.

They on a dyno in 1:1 gear take it to 2500rpm do a reading there then mash it and take a reading, at what point during the mash it do they take it is dependent on the guy doing the test.

It's fun to see the looks on the guys face , after they are used to hereing wwwwwhhhhhhuuuuu then they get a WWHHUU, I think they like it.

JEEZE - even in my part of EPA-NAZI California, no smog tests for diesels - YET... :p ;) :D

Hope you guys state's aren't a BAD EXAMPLE... :p

Here in Phoenix we used to do the roller test. Now it's done in neutral not on the rollers. Just a snap-idle test. When the man says hit it, you floor it and hold it there for 5 seconds:eek:

Do this 3 times and you're done. I asked the man if they ever had an engine blow up and he said "the governor will protect it". I said if my $10,000 motor blows you're gonna pay and he just laughed. I passed by not revving past redline and easing into the throttle. This is with a aftermarket plate full forward and 370 injectors. Those people that run emmissions are dumb as a box of rocks.

I always give a massive smoke cloud as I leave the parking lot. Makes me feel a whole lot better after spending my $15. :D

LMAO Todd!

I think I'll do the same thing when I'm done with my test!:-laf

No doubt, those emissions testers are the dumbest people around. I think they recruit them from the ghettos... :D :D

Arizona, Washington, Idaho and Utah have emissions testing for diesels!!??!!!. I thought I would never say this about anthing auto related but I'm glad I live in Ca.

JMarkos, did I see you in Kaysville earlier today? I saw a blue SB just ahead of me and he billowed out a big ol' cloud of smoke. He turned down a street by the soccer field and headed south toward 2nd north. By the discription in your post, it sure sounded like it may have been you.
