Count Me In....

MD TDR Gathering at Cummins Powersystems Report

Dyno session, this friday at 2:00 in the afternoon at Turbo Technology in Tacoma. Me and Bob Wagner will be smoking the place up.

I don't expect much to be happening, but if anyone wants to come and hang out, more than welcome.

If you want to run your truck with us,you'll have to call them ahead of time. 253-475-8319. It's $40 for set up and 1 run. $10 for additional runs.

To get there take exit (#130) S. 56th street and go west 1 mile until you cross the train tracks, take immediate left onto S. Adams, you'll see them on the left next to ACDelco.

We'll see how they handle this so we can decide if we'd like to do future dyno events there.

I may book a time before your appointment. I will call George tomorrpw morning.

Earlier is better for me

Mabye 1:00

Mike;

I drive right by there on my way home every night, but do not get there untill around 4:45pm. You guys probably will be gone by then, right????

1:00 is fine by me Bob. They said they're gone for lunch between 12 and 1,so I figured 2 would be okay. But I'll be there at 1:00.

Yeah Tracy,we'll be long gone by 4:45.

this works

Looking forward to meeting you guys. Friday is flexible for me, so I plan to come by. I'm calling TT this am to see if time is available. All stock, but you need a baseline, right?:D :D

The funny thing is, their soda pop machine stands in the doorway right next to where the exhaust pipe comes out on the trucks. Eeew! Those sodas are gonna taste nasty. A new product... . Soot Sodas!

Anyway, the shop did a pretty good job on getting the trucks set up. They had trouble trying to get the pickup sensor to read the crankshaft without getting vibrated off, but we told them we didn't need the torque readings anyway.

They told me they would do a Dyno Day on a saturday for us if we get 15 or more trucks.

I did 441hp. An improvement, but still doesn't seem like enough.

Can you give a updated list of your modifications? Was this with Bill's borrowed injectors? Just curious.

Bob, why the frown???

I would like to get too 350 HP

Maybe if I eventally go to the PDR HYBRID TURBO (1st up) and

then the EDGE COMP BOX (which I don't want to do yet)

maybe I will be within my target.

We will see ;)

I am in no big hurry because I am very happy at 283 for now.

-MikeR's 441 make me :D :D :D and -Mike is a very nice friend :)

I am sure that 283HP is is in fluid coupling too.

Good start, Bob....

If you'd had your Bilstein's on, you'd have done better..... :D

Kinda like one of the idiot's I played football with in college. He used to flex all his muscles when he got on the scale, thinking he'd weigh more...

it's all true

Yes folks, the power gains that you read about here are true. Not that I doubted it, but  to see it in person for the first time. I have driven a CTD as my primary truck since '89, and only after becoming aware of the TDR did I realize the potential of these engines. Gassers were made to produce hp, diesels were to pull. Neat thing is now I know that they can do both, and do it better than I ever realized, while maintaining a high degree of reliability/driveability. If I'd known years ago, some of the 260k mi. on my first truck would have been under different conditions. (wonder if the Getrag would have survived?--not!) Enjoyed meeting some of the members, looking forward to more.

That's correct Bob, you would have peaked before the TCC locked up on a Dynojet. I would guess that you should have a corrected HP output of at least 308 BHP if you had the TCC locked up or had a manual transmission.

Remember Bob, let's see those guys with the manuals do a full power shift (no clutch) while changing gears! Can you say where's the boost? He!!, more like where's the gears!!!! :D

Also, your "283 BHP" is usable HP, unlike 441 BHP that can only be attained for a very short duration before you have a full tilt nuclear meltdown.:eek: Remember, when you are towing a heavy trailer you want usable power that won't send your EGTs through the roof.

Doh!

With everything set on Full Nuclear, the only 'short duration' problem I was having was running out of road space. Hell, the 1500deg EGT gauge didn't even peg on the road. I really loved that turbo! With a 3200 lb trailer doing 65mph and the power set at roughly 375hp, the EGT's wouldn't go over 750deg. I really loved that turbo! Unloaded, the truck only burned 600deg (3psi boost) while cruising at 72mph. I really loved that turbo.

Besides, when I'm power shifiting my boost doesn't drop below 12psi, so not all is lost.

Did I mention I really loved that turbo? Too bad it's gone now. :(
