Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Improved MPG today!!!!

SO I just wanted to put it out there that All it took me on my 300,000 mile 24 valve to get 3 mpg more was clean the air cleaner really good(K&N) and replaced my IAT. I would say that is a pretty good gain for two things that took me less than an hour!

Glad it was easy and quick fix.

Let us know how much the increased mpg's are.

Can a bad IAT cause poor mileage? Or was your Air filter very very dirty?

I have replaced the IAT and the boost sensor at separate times. I KNOW the new boost sensor increased my mileage which meant the old one was bad even though it didn't set codes. I don't remember the IAT increasing mileage but it may be 'cause I'm gettin' older!

Both of these were replace at about 500,000 miles.
