2003 American Vs European Cummins??

Once again I'm turning to the TDR for some "guidance!" As the fall and winter begin to return:mad: to the Northeast, I will not be needing to maintain fuel in the Aux. fuel tank. I'd like to hear your recommendations for prepping or treating the tank over the winter season. It's aluminum. Thanks (in advance) for your suggestions.

Just top it up, and maybe some fuel stabilizer. You shouldnt need to prep the aluminum tank. Just get as much air out ar possible by filling the tank up. This prevents moisture from forming.

Aux Fuel Tank

I think I would be more inclined to use the aux fuel tank fuel on a regular basis, rather than using it for storage. The ambient temp. changes cause moisture build up, and getting all the air out of a legal tank is impossible.

I use my aux tank as a transfer unit, and during low use periods, transfer the fuel to the main tank for use and fill just the aux tank, and don't bother with additives.

Just a suggestion!

I have a 66 gal. aux tank. I try to keep it full to alleviate moisture build up. I always use the additive stuff also. A bottle treats 100 gallons. With the 34 gallon oem tanks it works out real nice.

Thanks one and all!

Okie-Go, C. D. Day, and sdalton,

Great info! I think the easiest and perhaps the best thing to do is just continue to use the tank through the winter... . that way I can also take advantage of "hunting" for cheaper fuel!
