Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) In Line Filter For Fass Pump

well for about 2 1/2 years I have had my fass fuel pump and I usually just change out my inline fuel/filter/screen napa#3270 usually around 7-8k miles this time after I changed the filter I decided to tap on the dirty end and to me alot of small rust/particles came out. if you were to use a pepper grinder and do it for 2-3 seconds that is how much crap was coming out of the filter. my fuel pressure was never lowering. I just cleaned my tank out a year ago. is this normal for these little filters to have this much gunk. well I guess it is doing its job.

That would all depend on the amt of stuff in your tank. Its just a 144 Stainless Wire mesh screen strainer... . so its going to catch the big chunks to protect the gear in the HPFP..... if you get a fair amt of particulate, you might consider changing the 3270 strainer as the cost is relatively low.



Not that it's that big of an issue, but you might also consider pulling your tank again and inspecting as well if this continues.....

you mentioned changing the 3270 I did put a new 3270 on this came out the old. I will however consider going to a full fass unit soon. thanks for the reply.
