Hey guys i'm in need of a new exhaust system since mine desided to rust off at the muffler the other day. I've been asking around about who makes a killer sounding exhaust system. I hear RIP's has a good system but I'd jike to hear it before I buy it. 4" single or even 4" duals is what I'm looking for. Any advise or even sound clips would be great :) 2001 24V Bone Stock but looking at future upgrade kit of about 100-125H. P. Thanks in advance for all the helpful responce.

I just put a 4"Rip on my 2001 a couple weeks ago it looks and sounds good. I don,t have a sound clip but to me at idle it sounds slightly louder at idle you can tell theres some thing diferent there now but when you take it fore a spine and romp on it sounds like a different truck to me it sounds like 18 wheeler :-laf . Its a hard deal to pass up and great service :D Im not a big fan of duals you have to rought and suport the drivers side where it was not desighed to go and i don,t see what the gain is if i needed more i would just go 5" everybody has different tastes just my 2 cents :D

I have sound clips on my website of the different variations I have had.

4" with walker muffler (Dynomax System) I modified it by removing the factory resonator.

Next set up was 4" straight pipe from the bottom of the factory down pipe. I added a 5" tip later (don't have a clip for that)

Next set up was adding 4" down pipe opening to 5" straight pipe. I later added a 5" resonator to try to get rid of the drone.

If you want loud go with a 4" system with a 5" tip. My current 5" system isn't as harsh as the 4". Duals have a unique, not as harsh as a single deep and mellow.

Hope this helps,

Bob

I know you want a good sounding exhaust system, who doesn't? But since you live in Salt city Michigan, why not spring for a good sounding exhaust that will last forever? It doesn't make much sense to buy anything but Stainless Steel in the area you live. Sure they cost a little more, but it will be the last system you will ever buy for that truck. If this sounds like it makes sense too you, as it does me, I would recommend the Hog Performance SS exhaust system. It is made from 4" 304 stainless, has a true 4" down pipe, and comes with your pick of three (3) different mufflers. You choose the sound level you would like, I went with the quieter version and it sound nice to me. Also the system comes with a killer 6" x 24" SS tip that gets everyones attention, it looks like a howitzer tucked up under the truck.

I suppose you will do what you feel is right for you, I just wanted to alert you of this possibility. The cost is very competitive with other non-stainless steel systems, it usually sells for around 550-600 dollars. Not that bad compared to other non stainless steel kits, and a steel when you compare it to other stainless steel kits available on the market. Also Hog Performance is one of the only exhaust systems to come with everything stainless, all hangers, nuts and bolts and even stainless band clamps, which most don't even offer in non-stainless. I think it is a real bargain, I have had mine for about a year and love it.

I agree with the stacks if you really really want big sound. Straight piped if you want the turbo loud (under-truck that is)

Turn the fuel up and put stacks on and give them an audio-visual experience when you put your foot in it. . :)

Stacks are OK unless you, Have no problems hearing, Like to talk to others while driving, Like to listen to the radio, Tow anything over 5000lbs for very long, Have a family and enjoy talking to them, have a family and like not giving them a headache, Enjoy driving your truck with out a headache, don't need the BIG RIG look secure in your manhood, Like to haul thing in the bed of your truck, Like to tow your trailer with out giving it a huge black stripe at the top, enjoy pulling up to people and smoking them out, Like the clean look of a normal pick-up.

i have the stainless magniflow system that rip sells with a "true 4" down pipe" i am immensely happy with they system's sound, design, and fit and finnish, plus no cheasy clamp on tips like the DPP or Banks kits.

YNot- your take on stacks is pretty hillarious. but yet, i do agree, there is a reason our trucks dont come with stacks and have beds on them, they would seem to me to get in the way more then their advantages would offset
