Im in need of some help please .... I have an unmolested 95 12 valve Dodge 2500 Cummins diesel and the problem I'm having is its not charging I change the alternator checked all the wiring thanks to the threads here on this website and I did not find no break in the wiring whatsoever or any bare spots the one thing that I did find is that 30 amp fuse was blown I replaced it and it blew as soon as I turn the ignition on so then I searched through the wiring and found no damage to it anywhere or corrosion of obvious so I took a jumper wire went across started it I was holding 14 volts a steady 14 volts but then I put another fuse on it and took off the jumper wire and it held I shut the truck off and then went to start it again and that fuse blew is it possible that the warming coil for starting is shorting out and causing it to pop that fuse on initial ignition
Thanks for any help David in mid michigan

To eliminate the warming coil on start up, disconnect the wiring at the heater(be sure to isolate them). Install new fuse and start engine.
I read that you already checked the wiring for chaffing, but it has been reported by members that there is possible place for chaffing. Check the wiring between engine oil filter mounting and alt. & near the front of engine. You may have to remove the alt. to do this, not sure of the exact location of chaffing area.

I am inthe process of that now ... i already did it once it dont hurt to check again ... thanks for the help... will updated asap...

I take it your taking a fuse out in the power distribution center (PDC), what does the lid say the fuse is for?

A bad battery temp sensor will keep it from charging. Located under driver's side battery tray.

Looking at fsm fuse 4 which is a 30 amp fuse goes to the automatic shut down relay (asd). Which goes to asd relay sense in pcm.

Is this correct?
30 amp fuse blows when key is turned to on position w/o turning or starting engine.
You remove fuse & jumpered fuse terminals with a wire.
System was charging w/jumper.
Removed jumper wire and replaced w/fuse while engine was running and fuse did not blow.
Shut off engine and tried to restart & fuse blew.
If this is correct, then I would carefully check the ASD relay and trace the wiring to the pcm, per what the #6 (M.M.) post.
The charging system works, you proved that by doing the jumper and then the fuse while truck was running.

ok here is an update to the issue it has been resolved.... I did find out the problem for those out there who have this problem you will need to check these things cuz this is what I found even though my truck was running at regular temperature it wasn't running properly so I changed the thermostat and the thermostat sensor and which in turn that was causing my intake heater to kick on and off constantly with the relays the relays were being used so much while driving the truck that it caused that fused keep heating up and blowing I replaced the thermostat and the sensor and put a new fuse in it and I have not had an issue with it at all thanks for all the help guys... and by the way I had to get my glasses out to check that fuse and one of the gentlemen had posted that it needed more than the 30 and that I thought it said 30amp well I put glasses on and seen that it said a 130 amp so I replaced it with just a 50 amp for checking (and not to have a melt down while trouble shooting) and its holding good now but I went down and got the right amp fuse that goes in there and that is in the power distribution box underneath the hood next to the battery
