My son's(originally mine) 92 CTD W250 4x4 has had the directional signals fail.

The hazard flashers work fine, the directional flasher has been replaced, the bulbs are fine, the fuse is ok and the clicker in the steering column works ok but the directional signals do not operate.

What can be wrong????? Any insight would be appreciated.

The truck has 178k on it and is running fine.

Has any other work on wiring been done about the time this problem came up? What I'm wondering about is specifically is if any work around a trailer plug been done. Could be a shorted wire or something such as that.

You will need a wiring diagram and start checking voltages at different locations. I'd start at the flasher area first.

I had a wierd problem with my directionals/brakelight, and running lights this winter, they worked fine by themselves but would not work togethor, if that makes sense,it turned out that the taillight socket was corroded and I guess full of salt allowing the systems to interact, the Ford socket in the HELP parts a t Autozone fixed the problem... .

Found the problem. My son thought he replaced the directional flasher when actually he replaced the hazard flasher.

A new directional flasher did the trick.
