Didn't post in 911 because I'm not disabled yet, but I'm on the road, Reno towing to Detroit, and I'm hearing a squeek at very low speed (1-5 mph). Dread the right wheel bearing is rearing it's ugly head. :{ Thinking of stopping in to Kragen, buying a grease needle, and squirting some in that ABS hole to nurse it back. I hate doing this krapp on the road.

Let's hear some suggestions

I posted something similar in another thread that I should've done this during my last brake job and someone replied that was not a good idea. Doesn't get grease to the actual bearing and can screw up the abs sensor. Just what I remember from about a year ago on this site.

P. S. I don't know how you would get a allen wrench in there to remove the abs sensor from the top of the hub anyway. You'd need to remove the hub and if that's the case you might as well replace the hub. It's that way on my 98. 5 anyway. good luck Chuck

Are you sure it's not the Ujoint?

Maybe the ones on the axle, I have the front driveshaft in the bed. I was greasing my joints and noticed my CV was bad so I pulled it and had Driveline Service or Carson City R&R, balance and true. I discovered the rears were toast also so R&Red them. Michigan salt strikes again.

Tomorrow I'll have the GF drive it while I try and listen from the outside.

2500 mile from home and this happens.

I've nuked 3 wheel bearings now. Never heard any of them until they were grinding. I did find them by jacking the wheel, turning it by hand and pulling the top of the wheel in and out which showed lotsa play. This is why I travel with a bottle jack in the box.

I've heard U-Joint squeek before.

Whatever you do, don't take it to Reno Dodge. There is a good NAPA on Glendale in Sparks and one on 395 North just off the PARR BLVD exit. If it comes to it, I have a big floor jack and stands and tools at my house. My cell is 775-742-0212. Good luck

Anyone know a competent mechanic around Deadwood SD? We were planning on spending a couple days there anyway.
In case I decide to roll the dice.....

To all those who piped in, thank you, I made it to Detroit (where the weak are eaten) with nothing more than a goose egg on a trailer tire, swapped it out in Bismark, new on in Minnesota somewhere.

I have no idea what that noise was, but it didn'r rear it's ugly head. The mighty cummins pulled the load with splendor. On the grades we were always passing the others. It seems that thing runs better the more you load it, but thats probably just my pride in the machine.

We took back roads all the way back. Deadwood was a bust though, just casinos. I could spend a month going through Wyoming and South Dakota, and I just might.

Once again, thanks guys.
and Amink, thanks for being there!!!

Glad you made it! And glad to offer what little assistance I could. I wonder if it was as simple as a pebble stuck in between a rotor and the metal shield?
