Was wondering if anyone has ever ran the in tank pump along with the factory lift pump. Any advantages or disadvantage. Thanks Kevin

Yes, I've run that set up for about 30k miles. No issues as of yet. Instead of the factory Carter, I have a Carter from Summit Racing that has 7lbs pressure. If you run a pump in series, your pressure adds together. Also added a check valve to bypass the Carter if it gives out. In my opinion (many will blast me), the intank pump is a superior design and is used in nearly all automotive applications. Just seems the fuel pressure was a little low especially with a full load. Runs at 14 lbs now and under full load will drop to 10 - 11 lbs. full load = 12k lbs in tow

this is from Chip Fishers web site, regarding the third updated carter OEM pump.

"This third generation lift pump is different in design as it has a bypass circuit in it so if and when it fails it cannot damage the diaphragm in the front of the VP44 Injection Pump by creating too much restriction. "
