Hello all... I am a n00b to all this so I am learning as fast as I can... . I am seeing a lot of mention of the lift pumps (?) being replaced by the dealerships with a pump in the tank.

First - am I understanding what is happening correctly?

Second - has Dodge started doing this "fix" at the factory? if so, when did it start?

I am looking at buying a used '05 that was made late in the model year and am curious what type of attention the fuel system may need in the future.

thanks!

They started putting them in the 05 model year trucks. The earlier trucks had them mounted on the fuel filter housing, they had many issues with pumps failing so moving them in the tank helps keep them better supplied with fuel and keeps them cooler.

The FASS system is a good kit been around for awhile. Some other members can give some details on some other kits.

That's good to hear... . a couple hours ago I committed to buy a used '05. White 4 door SB SLT 4x4 48RE 3. 73 and only 7,000 miles. Gonna pick it up early next week!
