In your will, who are you leaving your truck to?

We're in the beginning process of writing up a will. It's funny all my other stuff including house, property, prized family heirlooms, guns, tools, etc. have been fairly easy picks as to whom they would go to. We can't nail down who our truck should go to. My picks were a couple different TDR members who've helped me along the way. Wife thinks it should go to one of her friends who has horses and could use it. Her and her husbands track record of not maintaining vehicles and driving them till they come apart in the middle of the road, then trading off every couple of years puts a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think they'd truely appreciate having a '98 12 valve willed to them. We don't have kids and won't be having any either, so all our stuff has to go to extended family and friends.

My question is, how did you pick and choose items you willed?

Do you have any friends with motorhead responsible young adults (kids)? If worse comes to worse, I'd be glad to keep an eye on it... ;) Seriously, I didn't consider the truck. I have to do a will soon. My kids are young, so at this time the truck would sit for at least 5-6 years if I were to expire today. What about a local charity type place that could use a set of wheels for picking stuff up or towing a trailer? Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary etc?

Tim. it's a tough call. You known I'm always available when needed, lol.

I've pretty much decided to leave my truck to my Dad. He's never had a hot rod even though he's always wanted one. I've been blessed to have an income where I can afford a few niceties, and my Dad has always lived humbly and modestly, never trying to afford something he wanted that was somewhat frivolous.

Haven't started my will yet for reason of being scared someone will read it while I'm alive. My son in law and Daughter get the truck and all my tools of any description. They are the only ones who will take care of and appreciate those things. My stepson would dealy love to have them, he breaks everything he touches and has no respect for good tools. He would probably just sell the truck and go skiiing with the $$.

Don't forget about me Tim :D 98 12 valve that would make a sweet pulling truck, er I mean addition to the stable for the wife :-laf What about your father? Brother? I would prbably leave mine to my brother since my son is only 5 or possibly my nephew if my brother wasn't around. Makes me think, we should probably do a will also

Getting burried with it sounds like a good idea. I was thinking also of having my corpse placed in the drivers seat and have it pushed off a big cliff, but that would be a waste of a good '98 12 valver. ;) I'll likely leave it to my dad, as his ol' chevy is getting tired. But he doesn't like my bouncy, noisy, smoky truck enough to keep it once it's his. My only sibling, my brother officially handed over his nuts the day he got married and I wouldn't let her get her paws on anything of mine. Most of my motorhead buds have more dinero than me already and have newer, faster rides than mine or they have no need for a second diesel.

The TDR needs a private auction site where I can have it auctioned to the highest TDR bidder and have the proceeds donated to a needy group of members who need more cash for more bombs. I'd call it the "Make a Sooty Wish Foundation". :D

Have the Executor/Executrix of your will; post it to the "Pay it forward" forum and who ever pounces first gets it?

What a great question. I have been so dam busy I havent given dying much thought.

It really boils down to who NOT to leave the truck(s) to. Forget the wife. If she remarries, theres a chance the new man could be seen in one of my rides. I cant allow this. Bad enough he gets the wife. . but my rides too? Uh. . no.

The daughter? Uh. . nope. The glass Bronco and 4wd Lightning are way too much, and a risk of some punk boyfriend wanting to drive is to much to bear. Leave her the Dodge?. . mmm maybe, but kinda of a waste. . she's 4.

Brother in law over in Iraq is deserving. . he has alway loved the Bronco. But man he sure aint kind to vehicles.

Just got done with the boat, not one person stopped by to help. That little fact will come up when the will is read.

There's really only one solution... Y'all seen the movie "Heaven Can Wait"?

At what age should I be thinking about making a will?

I'm 31, married, no kids.

I had an uncle die somewhat unexpectedly about 2 years ago. He had a will, but it was way out of date. Dad, who was the executor, just finished up, almost 2 years afterwards due to his will being so out of date. It was a real mess to sort out. So far, I am leaving several things to people that are older than me, but I figure it has to be written as if I'll die soon. (Which I'm not planning to). ;) It will be updated as those around me pass on.

Tim,

I'm flattered that you're considering me. I promise to take really good care of it. You know how I am. It will... err... I mean, would be the perfect addition to our family :D .

I mean, I hope the enactment of your will won't be necessary for a long, long time. Maybe by then, the little Tim Jr will be 16 or older and love the sound and smell of a 12 valve like my son does. Let's not think about these things :( .

Put mine on a barge...

Light it on fire and push it out into the ocean with me in it. A Viking funeral.

If I can't have it, no one can.

JoshPeters took the words out of my mouth :D . I am also a very fair and responsible person so I will let all these vultures fight over the 98 12ver but if you live longer than expected I call dibs on the 2030 star chaser ( or whatever you have with a cummins in it :-laf )
