Actually, they have. They've been showing repeats of the "Biker Build-Off" shows he was in, with a "In Memory of Indian Larry" with the dates of his birth & death, at the end of each show.

agreed he didnt always make the best choices, I havnt either. But he had style, class, and honor, rare in a conformist society.

GREAT TRIBUTE PICTURE!!

Not too bright?

If not too bright describes Larry, we should all be so dim. And who decreed that everyone has to be a "role model"? What a crock. As far as that nonsense goes, why do you need one? To set an example for your kids? Try this example: Think for yourself, be responsible for yourself, and live with the consequences of your own actions. Larry did, and would not have had it any other way. I ride a bagger, but have to admire Larry`s style and no compromise ideals. Was he perfect? No, but who is/was? Geez, he was a bike builder, not a statesman. R. I. P. Indian Larry, some of us get it. DK.

I don't understand "what's to get. " The only thing he had going for himself is that he was a felon who built bikes. He's dead because he did something very stupid (not too bright). I get that.

Sorry you feel that way about him. As far as getting it, I meant appreciating his work and his attitude about it. I found his sense of style unique. Most of the other builder`s bikes looked similar to me. Lots of billet,Evo style motors, and even lots of identical parts. You can question most decisions others make. Some even look foolish to us, but we don`t always know why they do it. Maybe the reasons are valid, maybe not. After I got whacked by a car on my bike, some thought I was nuts to ride again. They don`t get it, i. e. they do not understand why I chose to get another bike. I can never argue the joy of motorcycling to someone who is uninterested or afraid of them. They are not wrong, they just don`t get it. I`m also not privy to Larry`s personal life as far as his arrest record, but I have heard he was a recovering alchoholic. I believe his family had listed some AA facility for donations in lieu of flowers. Neat guy, wish I had met him. There are not enough independant thinkers out there anymorre. DK.

What's important about a role model? I'll tell you what's important about a role model. It's about the example you set for young impressioning minds that's important. It's important because there's folks like YOU 'proclaiming' how great a man he was. People naturally look for great people to model themselves, or strive to be like. That's natural human nature.

And for anyone young and impressionable reading about, or watching old Larry act stupid, and have folks proclaim that it's cool, has an effect on thier lives.

It's honestly no different that the gangsta rap and that crowd. People acting stupid, and impressioning young minds, having an effect on peoples lives.

I once heard larry make a comment about religion. He was not a Christian, and proclaimed so. He went into a diatribe about how spiritual he was, in his OWN spirituality. In other words, he was into himself. Quite obvious. I only mention this because someone above mentioned Heaven. By Larrys own admission, he's LIKELY NOT THERE.

Sure I could stick my head in a hole and pretend that nobodys accountable for their ignorance, but I'm not going to do that. We're all accountable, and it's a sad that Larry died without acknowledging the truth, and becoming responsible.

As for Liking the man, I sure liked the bikes he built, and I respect his skills. But that doesn't mean that I have to respect him as a man. Those skills aren't worth a penny to him now. Being a great man means more than having artistic and mechanical ability.

And if it's true that a man doesn't have to be a good role model to be respected, and 'liked' then it's truely a sad day in America.

I think he is a good role model. Even if he was convicted of some felony(or felonies, I don't know his record, nor do I care to know), the bottom line is he cleaned up his life and started building bikes i. e. doing something contstructive instead of crime.

If he was a convicted felon, and then released from jail the assumption is supposed to be that he paid off his debt to society. The fact that he was able to get back on his feet and do something good with the rest of his life is the most important part. That is the part everyone should be basing their lives on and respecting the man for, even if he had some bad decisions in the past, he got it straightened out and he was flyin' right...

Religon? Interesting you would bring that up. Lets see, no one goes to heaven except Catholics (their own doctorine) but then Chruch of Christ makes the same assertion. So do the Jehova Witnesses, and Mormons. Seventh Day Adventists believe the same, so do _________. With ALL or MOST religions teaching that only their members go to heaven, which one is right?

I have a feeling that those who actually make it to heaven will be there based on God's judgement, not the ones who adhere to hypocritical Church "only me and mine" pew warmers.

I just love to watch full of love, compassionate, and non-judgemental so-called Christians throw rocks at anyone who isnt Holy enough for their "Church".

Read Matthew 22:36-22:40, John 13:34. Guess God thinks that LOVE and it's inherent kindness and compassion are pretty high on the list. I wonder why Jesus said "him that is among you without sin cast the first stone". I'd rather let God decide who makes it and just be content to hope for a little mercy for myself. Because I am in no position to cast the first stone.

So you choose to be ignorant then. Fortunately, God gave you that choice.
