can anyone recommend a set of aftermarket injectors that will increase power but not effect or if anything improve mileage a little? havin a hard time findin a lot of options for my first gen. any recommendations would be greatly appriciated. thanks.

First off... Welcome !! In my '93 I went with a set of injectors from the guys at Red Oak Diesel, out of Iowa. Next to nothing for smoke, compared to the PODs I replaced, and mileage appears to have come up about 1. 5 also.

New injectors should help, but remember how a diesel works... . it takes fuel to make power, and your right foot to control all that.

A set of 190's is what you are looking for. Smaller than stock, more power. They have more smaller holes for better atomization, gives better burn and saves fuel.

Welcome to the nuthouse! ;) :-laf

I'm going to order a set of 190s to replace the Bully Dog EH marine injectors in my 92 W350 when I get to that point. Anyone interested in a set of HOT marine injectors? I'd hate to see the fuel pressure if I put them in my other 92- drop to 0psi in 1st gear.

I've also heard good things on the DTR about the ebay guy who claims 2-3mpg. "Boatnik" gained a solid 2mpg, and he has an automatic transmission.

Smokey Pin

What do you mean by bottomed out. The way I understand it, this is a fuel pin and it moves up and down with acceleration ? Just need to learn here. I have been planning to get one of his pins.

RC, you can grind the pin yourself and save $75. Yes, it does move up and down. I too am curious as to what you mean about "bottomed out" JQuam. Your boost pressure goes through a little tube off of the intake manifold to the AFC housing and pushes that diaphram down to push the pin toward the bottom of its little housing in the pump. If you mean that the thing is down and won't come back up, my guess is you forgot to put that red and green spring back in that pushes it toward the top of the pump. Either that or the diaphram is ripped... or not even on. Last thought is if they left a little much burr where the cone was ground, I could see that getting stuck on the little pin that rides on it. I would hope they wouldnt let something go with that shotty of quality though.

if you look at the notch in the pin at the top it flattens and goes out to the overall diameter. i am actually hitting up there in the flat. its like the notch needs to go higher up the pin. no my star wheel is not bottomed out and yes the spring is in there under the diaphram. Im gonna do some comparisions with the factory pin when i get time and maybe machine my own pin.

The kid I bought the truck from said they are Bully Dog 80's. Sitting at cold idle, no KSB engaged, it'd blow about half black, half white/grey, and a goodly amount. I bet it'll roll the coal when you get into it on the street and put a load on the engine. Should find out after Memorial Day. Oo. Building the transmission this weekend, then to start on the D70.

Well my Bully Dogs are +50s, PODs are supposedly + 60, so the plus 80s must be the next step.

As a smoke comparison, mine are perfectly clean at idle yet I have been known to cloud up an intersection from time to time to get thru the yellow light ;)

Most POD users report a light haze at idle and they are notorious for fogging up the county.

Me thinks Mr Puckett is going to have the smoke nazis chasing him... . and he'll be leaving a nice black trail for them to follow... :-laf
