I was looking around for an inexpensive 4" exhaust option and came across a new, released 2 weeks ago, Dynomax kit for our trucks. Actually I'm not sure if this is for the 24v or not, but it is for the 12v for sure.

It is a CAT back, if you have one, 4" replacement of the muffler and tailpipe. It is mendrel bent and has a flow through muffler (probably very similar to the Walker muffler many guys seem to be using because Dynomax and Walker are under the same umbrella company, Tenneco Automotive). I spoke directly with someone at Dynomax today to get this information so you can be certain it is the truth.

So for some of us, myself included, who don't want to spend $400+ dollars this could be an option. The guy at my parts shop quoted me $265 for the exhaust kit.

I don't plan on running really high horsepower (300+) so I think the factory downpipe is good enough for me.

If anyone cares NAPA has the system for $15 less.

For guys like myself that don't have a Cat, this system would (I guess) go from the resonator back. I went with Geno's muffler eliminator pipe about a month ago and am very pleased with it (resonator still in place). Also much cheaper than a cat back.

Have you seen a factory downpipe?? The thing looks terrible. Why only do the job "halfway"? Turbo back is the best way to go if you do anything at all. No you will not gain HP instantly with a 4" exhaust but it sounds cool. If you want 300 rear wheel hp and you tow the 4" will lower your EGT's.

Yes it costs $400 (cheapest 4" exhaust I have found) but its well worth it, in EGT reduction and ecspecially in the sound department!

But does anyone make a turbo-back system for the 89-93?

Cooker- can you come up with a part number for the NAPA/Dynomax system? Our local NAPA guys can't find anything without a part #!

Bill,

The part number is Dynomax # 19335. My NAPA guy had to make a few calls to get the info. As I said the product is rather new and wasn't in their system yet. Sorry, I thought I posted it to begin with.

I'm still considering the purchase of this system. The feedback seems to be to go with the 4" all the way back. I don't plan on doing anything until the weather gets warmer so I have time to decide.
