Finally got sick of my stereo not playing CD's and home burned CD's, so yesterday I bought a new CD player that plays MP3's and WMA's (This is awesome - 300 songs on a single CD!!!!). One of new front speakers had been out for a month so I replaced the front speakers too. Here's my question - Does anyone know which wires power the tweeters in the A-Pillar? I installed new 6x9 3-way speakers in the door and I need help figuring out how to get the tweeters to work with them. I miss having my highs coming from in front of me, but I don't know how to hook up the tweeters - help?

The infinity stereo has three wires to each speaker. One of the is a power wire for a built in amp. You might have to ditch stock speakers and install an amp with rears... . I have been putting it off for that reason. I hate to spend $1000 bucks to listen to radio.

I just put a blaupunkt san jose mp41/// mp3/wma player in mine too i agree its wicked 10 hrs of music on 1 cd. Ialso replaced the front door speakers with cerwin vega 6x9's and the rears with 5. 5 cerwin vegas . Custom built a subwoofer box under back seat with 2 , 8" cerwin subs. powering the system is a pioneer 350watt amp 4ch. Finally had the guts to remove silencer ring today, should of done it ages ago, wish it was even louder,lol

Hey doodad,

That's the same unit I got, it's the only one I could find that would play the WMA's. Did you have the tweeters in the pillars? Are they working now? I went with Polk speakers all around.

It's the worlds first in car wma decoder. You can fit alot more wma files on a cd than mp3's and sound quality is the same. No i don't have the tweeters in mine, i wish. I couldn't resist responding about mp3/wma player , cost me 500 canuck bucks but well worth it.

I just did my whole sound system this weekend. I got rid of the stock speakers and put in some MB Quart separates, they are only 5-1/4 but I already had them from an older car. I made an adapter to fit them in. I'm not sure what to do in the rear, I'd like to get some 6-1/2 speakers in there if I can fit them, has anyone attempted this? I have not done anything with the rear Infinity stuff yet, I am only running fronts and a sub.

Anyway, after checking both left and right front wiring harnesses, they are both the same on my 98. 5. The harness you want to use is the one that goes from the Infinity speaker to the harness in the door, you will have to cut it. It has 6 wires in it they are the following:

Blue = speaker +

Brown = speaker -

Yellow = + going up to tweeter

Orange = - going up to tweeter

The other two wires (purple and green?) are the power for the Infinity sound system amp, you don't need these, unless you want to power some small amp in the door.

The tweeter has a green and black wire running to it. If you use yellow as +, it will run up to the green wire in the tweeter, orange as - will run up to the black wire in the tweeter.

I would suggest getting a harness adapter from an electronics store, places like Circuit City, Best Buy, Tweeter, et... they all stock them for our cars.

Here is a link to the wiring diagram in our cars for the radio (no infinity info).

I would suggest getting the correct tool for removing the door panels, it only costs about $10. 00 at a automotive shop, the one I got was from one of thes Liddy tools racks.

Emial or PM me if you have any questions.

Cool, my Thunderform just arrived...

They will need a crossover but I'm not sure what frequency to set the stock tweeters at. The Infinity system does the crossover before sending the signal up to the tweeters.

My speakers are crossed over from my amp at 125hz and up. The separates that I put in came with a crossover that also allow a -3 or -6db drop. I would reccomend a -6db drop to make them seem less 'bright' in the 'in your face' location they are placed at. I don't know how this would apply to the stock tweeter.

I was able to mount my tweeters in the stock location using that roll of perforated metal stuff (used for exhaust hanging?). On the passenger side I attached it from the tweeter to the passenger grip handle (had to break off the stock tweeter grips). Driver side went from the tweeter to the hold-down on my boost gauge (use pillar replacement only, no stock pillar).
