Info Needed on possible DMAX?

Well I am in the market for a another truck to add and was looking at an older 2 gen 24 valve dodge and thought maybe i would try something new and different... ...



I have been looking at certain DMAX's and i have also heard that if one couldn't get a Ram then the DMAX would be there next choice... ... I have never owned a GM diesel, But would be willing to experiment with one... .



So you die hard GM fans chime in and let me know what is a good year and what motor is good and which is the one to stay away from..... I know they make different motors LBY and LB7 or something like that?????



I am just wanting some general opinions(Not a War) on DMAX's and the good and the bad of them... .

Wow, why would you change to a totally unknown quantity? Not busting on you, just wondering outloud... I have to tell you, there is nothing that sounds like a hopped up 12 valve... I have been thinking about picking one up to tinker with. . :-laf :-laf :-laf

Stick with the LB7. As you can see I own one of each. My choice would be another LB7. Check all the normal things like you would if you were buying a Cummins. You can always go over to the DieselPlace and do a little research. Post a vin and have it checked for service history for free.
