Info on new 5er vs. old one

I had 2004 32' Sprinter since March this year. Total gross is 18,560#. Loaded for camping my truck grossed 10,100# and 5er was 8560# on axles. That is pin weight of 2260#.



My new 2006 36' Cedar Creek loaded and weighed today total gross is 20,780#. Total gross of my truck with Cedar Creek is 10,780#. That is pin weight of 2340#.



I can feel the extra ton in the weight of the 5er but it tows well.

Looks nice, how are the 315s with that much wieght? I could tell the difference when I had the 315s with just a 5000# bumper pull boat, went back to the 265 load range E tires.

315s

I pump the 315s to 53#s. They are rated more than the 265 10plys. I have no problems with them yet. I wished I could find a 315 or 325 in 10 or 12 ply.

looks like your over on the gross weight. Aprox 780 lb. were you fully loaded when you checked your new trailer on scales. I have a friend thats has the same trailer loves it. Good luck with 5fer.

We were 99% loaded. I am considering purchasing Rickson wheels and going with 19. 5" tires. That is my weakest point. The truck/suspension is handling it fine. The 19. 5s would give me 4500# per tire which would give me a good margin. Oo.

I'm surprised at your low tire pressure - maybe I'm just unfamiliar with those tires, but I run 80 PSI in my truck tires and 55 in the trailer - and our 5er is LOTS lighter than yours...



Under-inflation is the SINGLE leading cause of premature tire wear and failure...

315 tire pressure

Max tire pressure for 8 ply 315s is 50psi. and still carry more load than 10ply 265s and ride smoother. :{

I have the Michelin 245/70R 19. 5" tire XDE-MS 12 ply not 16... it is 4080# at 95 # so the ride is not as harsh... i have a 36' toyhauler and my pin is a litttle heavier... I am at 6300# on the drives and 2 of these tires are 8160# rated. .



Get the rims at Ricksons... . The "Eliminator" Forged aluminum 8 lug. ... . get the tires locally . . cheaper on not having them shipped. . uses the factory cap... on my 2nd gen anyway... .

Believe it or not I have been discussing this with Rickson. My 2004. 5 has wider width axles than does the earlier models. They stick out from under the fenders a little more. Rickson tells me that they by the end of the year will have new models designed for the later trucks. I have been looking at the 285-19. 5 for my truck. I now have 315s and the 285s are about the same height. I had seen your earlier post and pics and that is what put me onto Rickson.

I took this bad picture with one of those $2 panoramic view throw away cameras. Sometimes good cameras show a distorted view of your rig and RV.



This was my first trip out with my new RV this weekend.

Hey Cumminz - nice rig - is that a 362BHS? Looks exactly like our new one, ours does not have the awning over the slides, but has bunks in the back with the spare bathroom in the back. It does have 2 ACs for here in TX. It has done great, and my 04. 5 4x2 shortbed with a juice/attitude pulls it great. Nice rig

With the shocks on the trailer axles and better balance of the RV, it tows much better than did my Sprinter.

Yup, thought you had the same one as us. We've been out twice in it - once full hookups, once dry camping. Love the trailer. Truck pulls it great, too (stock).
