I have a 160hp pump, I am wondering what the best mods are for it. I have purchased a set of 4k governor springs, what delivery valves should i use for street/towing. What fuel plate should I use and do I need to do anything with the afc housing? and what timing should i set it to.

What's your goal? What truck? What mods on the truck already? What gearing? What is the primary use? What RPM does your truck spend most of its time at?

98. 5 24 valve p-pump conversion its the truck in my signature, I am also putting rv275 injectors popped to p-pump specs. I will spend most of my time at the 1700-2000 rpm range, its a daily driver and occasional towing of about 6 horses

For towing I recommend a towing plate like mine from Austin Injection. If you are going to spend most of your time at 1700-2000 rpm there isn't any point in installing the 4k kit. With a little tweaking the stock springs are good to 3200 rpm and the tq comes in at a lower rpm too. Start out with about 15* of timing, then adjust a few times until you get what you are looking for.

Thank You, GAmes. Do you have stock delivery valves in your pump and do you need to do anything with your AFC? I emailed Austin Injection about their custom plate.

Stock delivery valves, but my pump is a 215. The pump was benched by Austin injection and they tweaked the AFC. The owner of the shop drives a '96 12 valve, and tows, so he is in tune to those needs. Buying a towing plate from him will more than likely give you some instruction time over the phone on how to set up the AFC.

The classic upgrade is the TST #6 power kit. A #5 would mean getting a 16 cm2 exhaust housing or something else to keep egt down. You could also install the TST AFC kit. However, the most recent design of VP44 would be a lot cheaper and pretty satisfactory, especially compared to the 160 HP version of the P7100.
