Hi Everyone.

The "breakover spring" and the pin it acts against are quite worn on my Injection Pump.

Can these items be replaced without removing the pump? It doesn't LOOK very hard to do but... .

Thanks much.

I've looking into that also. The injection shop that I use informed me that with as many miles as I have I should bring the pump to them and have it gone through. The throttle shafts on the rotary pumps usually start to get sloppy, which mine is doing, and then they start to leak. So I will be doing just that... soon I hope although it hasn't started leaking yet... ... ...

It's "do-able" on the rig, but not advisable.

As you were advised, normally by the time you get that pin and spring worn down badly, the throttle bushing and shaft get worn.

The best thing is to pull the pump off and have an injection shop fix it up for you. They can replace all the bad parts on the throttle shaft, put in a new bushing in the top cover, run it on the test stand and get it tuned up for you. At the same time, it's a good idea to clean up the diaphragm/pin/shaft combo so it doesn't stick and leave you stuck at low power.

All that will cost you about 300 bucks for the pump work part. R&R the pump should not be more than $175, and they should check the TDC pin for accuracy while they're doing it.

Personally, I'd go with PW's suggestion. If those parts are needing replacement then other things probably do as well, or are very close to it.

However, if your inclined to just do the individual items here are their names and Bosch order number:

(These are the parts listed for the. . " 0-460-426-205 Distributor-type fuel-inj pump - VE6/12F1250R419-4..... I know we call it a VE-44)

Coiled Spring - 1-464-651-430 (listed as a "wear item")

Contro Lever - 1-461-901-489 (listed as a "service part")

Thanks for the replys!

About 2 years (40,000 miles) ago I had the pump serviced (seals, calibration, throttle shaft and bushing, input shaft bushing, etc. ). I was told the pump had about half its life left, another 3 years/60,000 miles from now. The spring/pin was showing some wear then but was not replaced.

A factory certified Bosch dealer for the VE pump in Long Beach, CA (from the Bosch website) said they could do the job in about an hour while I wait; they have the parts in stock. Price $100 parts and labor. I'm going tomorrow.

The pump and PW injectors still "move the rig right along".

Go Bosch, Go Power Wagon Injectors from Wentland Diesel!

Thanks again for the replys.
