Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) ?? injection pump ??

i went to wal-mart monday night and when i came outside my truck wouldn't start it so i checked the codes and got nothing my first thought is that my diesel gauge was playing tricks on me again but i had just filled up and only driven 30mi so i towed it to the local dealership and they finally called me today and said that they had changed my fuel filter and my lift pump and that there was still no fuel pressure and they said that i needed and injection pump but it would cost me $1400. 00 installed because of the little cut in the insulation on the wire where i had put a blue box on it is there anything else that could possibly be wrong or do i just need to get ready to spend some cash
