Hello there,

A quick introduction. I have been a member of TDR for about 8 months now. I have been lurking in the background, reading and learning for about 2 years and I am quite impressed with all of the knowledge that can be found here. This leads me into my question: a friend of mine has a ’99 Cummins Turbo Diesel 4X4 with 137,000 miles. He recently lost his lift pump. He replaced the lift pump and the lift pump is now operating normally; however, the truck does run but has very little power and seems to bog down but it still runs. He seems to think that he has either lost his injection pump or there’s a computer error, and he is waiting for a code reader to arrive at his house. Does anyone have any good ideas or insight into this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Does he have any gauges? They can give some important info to help trouble shoot a low power problem, like how much boost is he makeing, egt#'s. He also needs to check the codes once he get the reader to see if they lead him in a direction. Any mods to truck?

thanks craig

no gauges, no mods, and he lives in a remote part of alaska no i nternet services, he did not know his lift pump problem until I told him about the lift pump problem.

thank you

When he get the reader have him temp install a boost gauge and watch the boost when the truck does and doesn't have power and see what codes if any he is getting. Hope it is something simple.

If he doesn't have internet access get him subscribed to the magazine and asuming they get mail that far nort he can read up some.
