As a post for someone else! What is the trick to getting the air out after an Injector change? Cycle the ignition switch(bump starter) to run the lift pump(with a few injector lines loose) still no fuel to the lines, purge the lines at the banjo bolts with a few bubbles, what gives, the truck was running fine but he did change the fuel filter prior to the injector change and ran it for a few minutes... ..... sounds like air to me but I'm a 12V guy... ... ... . there easy!

Jim

Sounds like the lift pump is tits up. . Does he have a fuel pressure gauge, and is he purging the bleed screw at the fuel filter before trying an injector?

other than that, mebe a clogged inlet but thats a longshot. .

Hum, I'll ask about the bleed screw..... wish I was there to check it out... ... . no fuel pressure guage.

Jim- I test drove a 24 valve truck a while back. (Don't tell anyone). Took it out to Fred Swanson to check the fuel pressure. After seeing that it was at 0 and removing the gauge we hadd to crack 3 injector lines to get it going. So I would say it is the lift pump.

I'll talk to him this morning about bleeding it out again and such, were is the best place to check fuel pressure on a 24V? 12V's we do it at the filter housing.

Jim

You can "bump" start to get fuel to/through the filter and to the injection pump. You'll have to crank it over to get fuel through the injection pump. Lift pump usually won't push it through. Once she starts spraying, quit cranking and close the lines that spray. She's getting ready to fire now. It'll usually try to crank once you get a few lines spraying. Once the remaining line/lines spray close it up and it should crank. All this depends of course on the status of the lift pump. Stinks not being there don't it Jim? :D

Thanks guys... . yes it almost as bad as trouble shooting online... ... ... got a good price on a lift pump though if it needs one!

Jim

Some 24v's you bleed the air on the back of the fuel filter housing, and some you can bleed right at the VP.

There should be a schraeder valve there, just like on your tires. Pull the black cap off and bump the starter and push the valve until you get fuel or the LP shuts off. If LP shuts off before getting fuel, repeat. Also take the fuel cap loose while you do this.

If he has a bad LP, he will need to prime the lines by pressurizing the tank and following the same procedure as described above.

Good Luck

Crack a couple injector lines at the head. Usually 1,3,5 and try to start. Once you get fuel out of them tighten them up. It usually just takes a couple of minutes for enough air to get out for the truck to start.

Funny that the last two post were done I hadn't read them yet, it works now! I guess he just got allot of air in the system but did the filter bleed off then at the pump(banjo) then to the injectors 1,3,5 and got it done and running well, said to tell you'll thanks a million for the help, I said that is normal for the TDR bunch... ... . thanks from me also as I lack 24V knowledge!
