 had an e-mail from BD Diesel in Abbotsford bc.

They said that 98. 5 24v below s/n 56462591 may need new tubes when injectors are changed . Cummins p/n 3944833 or B/D p/n 1040281. refers to chrysler s/b 14-01-98. Any one changed theirs at injector change.

Yes Cummins considers the early tubes non-re-useable. It is not worth the risk of leaks to attempt to reuse them

I just pulled the injectors on my early 24v to clean and reinstall them and didn't have any issues with the tubes that I can tell. Mine is SN 56426388 built 1/27/98 so it's well before the changeover date The good thing is if they leak it will be externally (around the fuel line nuts) since there is no path for the fuel to get in the oil. After cleaning the injector tips and putting them back in it's running nice and smooth.

The main thing is being careful to torque them as close to the right value as possible, not good to overtighten. I think the injector line nuts get 28 ft/lbs but don't quote me on it.
