hey guys, got a friend of mines, just called me to see if i may be able to help him, he has an 2004 1-ton 6 speed, 50,000 miles on truck . about 10 days ago the truck would not go over 45mph, he change the fuel filter and it did not help, he had a little smoke out exh. he took it to a local dodge dealer. they found the transfer pump was bad & changed it. he said it ran good for about 300 miles, and it stalled on him, could not get it running, it is back at the same dodge dealer. now they said all 6 inj, and the cp3 pump needs to be change out. they are saying he had some contaminated fuel. the cost is about 7,000 -8,000 dollars to fix it. out his pocket. thanks for any info. I had all 6 of my injectors checked and new tips installed by formula one and my cp3 done to a stage 2 by floor it and only spent about 2,6000 dlooars 8 grand is very high. Tell your buddy to ask for the fuel sample they sent off to be tested and the result paper

Ask the dealership what the fuel condition was like when the lift pump was replaced. Did the dealership send him on his way with known bad fuel?

I doubt that both CP3 pump and 6 Injectors are bad. Yes it is possible, but the problem is usually the control barrel and plungers in one or more injectors. I have seen loose transfer tubes cause the same problem. I have seen the transfer tubes loosen with miles or time. That problem should have been checked by the Dealership first, but seems to never be considered as the problem. Good luck! Thanks, Brady

I would suggest to your friend that he install a Fass or AirDog to protect his fuel system. If the dealer was not going to replace the parts under warranty I would not use the factory parts. I would get the injectors and cp3 form some one like II. He would save a lot of money and would have a better running truck. The factory injectors arn't matched up too well.
