Alright, dumb question here, but has anyone run their injectors without the square cut dust seals? I never have, and I forgot to pick some up before I came home this weekend  If I can get away with it, I would be glad to know about it.

Thanks,

Russell

Alright, slow day on the forum, you guys must be having better weather than we are :D I'll just bury myself here, I just talked to Nascar Mark yesterday, and forgot to ask which copper washers to use with the POD's, is it the smallest ones, of the middle of the road size... ..... or is it the . 020" jobs? Thanks for the help, I plan to join the POD club tonight with a little bomb session of my own :p

Russell

When I did mine lat year PDR told me to use the . 020" washers to help reduce the low boost smoke. Mine are still pretty smokey though.

POD's ARE IN ! Yes, that was an awesome road test in a first gen :D :D :D

Jbolt, thanks for the help, I couldn't wait, so I mic'd the coppers out, and went with the . 020's what a difference :) Gettting the injectors out was a real PITA though, had to use a slide hammer, and they were all carboned up and yuck. No smoke at idle, and a fair amount to a lot at WOT, boost went up at cruise about 1-3psi, and at WOT, I have not held it there to see, kind of scary, but I did manage to see 32 psi on one pull, yes a wee bit-o-turbo-bark if one changes mind on throttle posistion quickly during certain loads :) I did let the thing rip at about 90% throttle, and saw 1250 EGT, a lot less than I had expected. Anyhow, the power across the band is tons better, and I have not changed my pump settings from the old injectors. The idle is nice a smooth, a bit lower, but about dead right because my pump settings with the old injectors jacked-up the idle a little.

For a truck with 185,000mi, it runs better than ever! Thanks to Nascar Mark, Harry, Piers and the PDR Gang over the boarder for the great product and service!!! Another note: Ever notice how easy it is to locate parts on their website, you can locate bombs faster than burgers in line at the fast food joint..... not good for my wallet :D

Thanks,

Russell

What a difference eh? Ya know its funny how when I put my PODs in they smoked at idle a little, then I bumped the timing and it cleared up but slowly over time and especially with the warm weather I now feel like I'm driving a BBQ pit... ...

Ha ha ha, I have to say that I wish that there were some 5-holers out there for us, but after getting chewed-up by the mosquitos the whole time last night, the smoke and I get along ok ;) Here comes my first daylight road test, I'll let you know how the dually charcoal mobile runs :D

Russell

Russell, as much problem as I've had with frozen up injectors, it may be worth it to take the time and put the dust seals in. It isn't something you need to do right away but don't let it go for months on end.

Another thought is to smear a dab of Three Bond in place of the dust seal, it would probably do a better job, and I think you know where to buy it. :D

A Johnson,

Thanks for the heads-up, got the dust seals in the dump truck, then proceeded to strip the #6 injector return banjo bolt  What an idiot? Two injector jobs, then had to screw up a fundamental  I just hoe that I didn't fletch up the injector. Anyhow the POD's on the other hand are just out right scary when you dig into it :D
