Injector electrical connections

I am having a problem with the studs for the electrical contacts on my injectors. They are breaking off under virtually no torque. I can't figure out what is going on, has any one else seen this before?

Thats because they get virtually no torque.



The torque rating for the nuts for the injector studs is 1. 37nm

It's good to know the torque spec because I knew it wasn't much. Basically, a strong wrist and a nut driver is too much.

I understand the torque on the nut. they are breaking before the nut barely gets tension. It was a Dodge tech. whom is VERY good with the cummins diesels who broke one today. I want to know what could be causing this issue OTHER THAN over torque.

They are also easy to break when they get cross threaded.

The studs are only a soft copper/brass material.

One thing I can suggest is if this guy is going to be torquing down more of these on a regular basis is to check over the threads on the stud and nut.

If either one is damaged, it is a gamble on whether it will go back together well.

You can always run a tap through the nut to clean the threads on it.



I am not a dodge tech but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night!!
