So I have noticed in the last couple weeks Ol' gray has had a bit of a mis around 2000 rpm's and started watching the oil level and surenuf it came up about a quart and a half in last couple weeks. So I figured that I had became another statistic in the stuck injector club but I guess I don't understand. I stopped by the dealer on my way home from work and the service manager spelled it out to me like this, "They are going to replace all the gaskets around the injectors, something about a brass washer/gasket at the base of the injector and a rubber gasket on top". Me not knowing how these really work but in my simple mind I guess I had this vision of a stuck injector being the injector itself constantly dumping fuel into the piston. Could someone enlighten me on this subject please.

Thanks, Tyler

There are three ways the fuel can get in the crankcase. The most common is from a cracked/leaking injector body that is inside the valve cover. The second and more rare way is a stuck open injector that is over fueling the cylinder. This would show other symptoms such as smoke. The third is a possible O ring leak on the injector body. This would be pretty rare as the pressure in the return side is pretty low. Look at the thread "Injector replace with photos" to see photos of the injector and you will see the injector body, O ring and the copper seal ring the dealer referred to.

sag2, while we are on this subject, my truck recently developed a mysterious "rattle" upon hot start up. Will not do it all the time, seems to be more pronounced the hotter it is, like today on the way back from Tucson, stopped off for some snacks and left it running, come out and its trying to make that rattle sound again. Sometimes the RPM's will go to about 12-1300 trying to compensate for whatever is going on. Is there a chance this is an early sign of one going bad?

Thanks for the info sag2, helps a ton and that's why I enjoy this site so much. I looked through the thread you mentioned and see gaskets and what not, but I'm wondering on the pressures on the return side. What pressure would the return side produce?

MMeier, This is wait I noticed with my truck. First indication I noticed was egt's were up a little and started getting a slight miss or hesitation from 1900 to 2100 rpms real noticable if say you put it in fourth gear and slowly run it up to 2000 rpm and then backed of to maintain 2000 rpm. Once I noticed this from some reading on this site I immediatly started montioring crank case oil level and seen an increase. Looking back now I could say there was a decrease in fuel economy but it's hard for me to be sure just because I'm always pulling different loads in different terrain.
