I am considering new injectors or at least new tips for my 96 Ram 2500 4x2 with a manual trans. Everything is stock, but the pump has be tuned and turned up slightly and the turbo boost compensation value disabled. I've replaced my rear axle (3. 54) with one that has a 3. 07 ratio (the axle gave me about 2mpg and tuning the pump gave back 2 mpg). My biggest concern is mileage and second is power. I also have to pass an annual smoke test, so I cannot use anything that produces more smoke then the stoke injectors and actually less smoke would be preferred (I cannot exceed 30% blockage at 60/50/40mph in direct)
From what I've read, I don't want 370 injectors because of the smoke. Beyond that, can anyone give me any injector recommendations as well where to get them at fair prices?
Also, any information on what the differences between the different types of injectors would be appreciated. For instance, what is really the difference between a DD Stage 2 and Stage 3 Extrude Honed injector compared to a Bosch 215 factory injector?
Maybe this is a given, but how much of a difference does having a matched set of injectors make? I understand the justification, but is there that much variance in injectors to make a difference?
Thank you for any information.
