How hard or how long does it take to install injector in the 24Vs, If you have never done it before but have mechanical abilities? thanks

It took my brother-in-law 3 hours to swap injectors in my truck last month. He fit your description - mechanically inclined but had never done injectors on any truck before.

2ish hours. the fastest i have heard is 30 minutes from the first bolt to cranking. but yeah hes done it before. my first time was about 2. 5 hours

Ditto on 2. 5 to 3 hours doing mine. Everything went really well.

I ordered an in-lb torque wrench just for doing the injectors.

I just did mine took 3 hours or so. I could not find an inch pound wrench, so I used my fish scale. I had a socket handle that was ten inches long, So I pulled till I reached 9lbs on the fish scale ie:89 inch pounds...

Ditto on the 2 hrs for the first time. It can be done in 30 min. The hardest thing is the # 6 injector that will be at least 1/4 of the time.

You guys from Maine.

Florida Boy here. We use the beer can method.

Using the lenght and width of beer can it should crush at stated inch lbs.

place beer can sideways at end of wrench pull with even pressure, can should crush at max needed pressure. Oh Ya, can should be empty so it gets

harder to do as you go, as 6 cans will be needed.

:) please do not try.

LOL :)

Us western guys are more macho. We just drink the beer, wipe our chins off with the back of our hands then smash the can with two fingers to impress the wife who is not all that impressed because it messes up the re-cycling.

Changing injectors is pretty easy even for a first timer. Find one of the "how to" lists floating around the internet. If you have trouble finding one, PM me mine is at home. The shop manual has you doing some things that are not really required.

Just take your time, know all your necessary torque values ahead of time and be sure you have the correct tq wrenches, have a stubby 3/4 or 19mm wrench for the rear fuel line, use a swivel on the tq wrench on the rear line so you can get on it completely, make sure you torque everything correctly, double check everything, account for all the copper washers, dont force anything, make sure you get the connector tubes pulled back a bit when you remove/insert the injectors so you dont gore them, you dont have to remove the APPS as some have suggested, I pull out the valve cover bolts to get it out of there (just my preference vs fighting with it), and its really not a hard job if you dont be in a rush.

I forgot to mention that a 12 point 19mm tube wrench will come in really handy. I have a 6 point, but could not find a 12 point so made one by cutting box end of a 19mm wrench. I used that wrench to get close, then cinched down with the 6 point.

LOL, I've never heard of the beer can method. It sounds like it would work though.

It should take around 3 hours for your first try, I've gotten it down to around an hour now. Have all your torque values written down (or memorized if you do it enough).

A 3/4" crows foot (same as 19mm), a 3" extension, and a 6" rachet make the #6 alot easier.
