OK all you injector gurus. I have my initial feeling on this one, but thought I'd see what you folks have to say. I just purchased a set of used injectors. I have been told by the distributor that I could re-use the O-rings and the copper washers. I was thinking I'd just replace them with new ones. What's the general consensus of opinion - re-use or replace?

Larry

They are cheap, you should replace them. When installing the new o-rings, coat with oil so you won't damage them upon installation. Also, apply a thin layer of grease to the copper when installing on the injector, and wipe off the excess, this will keep the gasket from falling off while installing it in the head. Good luck.

Re-use gaskets and orings

Larry, Do not re-use the copper washer gaskets... the injector may not seal properly in the tube. As far as o-rings I would recommend replacing them... some may say different, but ya just never know there true condition. When replacing them buy from Cummins or its distributor not from dealer to save some $$$. Replacing orings and gaskets are cheap insurance against catastrophic failure or damage.

Goodluck

:D

My thoughts exactly guys! Can't see going through an injector install only to have leaks. Have been quoted a price of $26. 00 for a set of o-rings and washers. Gonna call Rocky Mountain Cummins tomorrow and see what price they quote.

Here's another poser for you: On my truck ('02 ETH/DEE) with stock exhaust and turbo, what poistion would be best for the EZ jumper? Remember, I'm at 6000' here in Colorado

That seems to be the only mod you have, I'd say #3 for sure. I'm not anywhere near 6,000', so I can't comment on the smoke (if any with just the EZ) but depending on the size of injectors your installing, you may want to set the EZ to #2. All 3 settings allow the same amount of power ultimatly, however, #3 will give the most rapid increase, and #1 will will be more gradual over the RPM band. Give them all a test, and set it to what suits your liking. IMO

Rob

Thanks, Rob. I neglected to state the injectors are ATS 10% honed model. I don't have much smoke with the EZ at #1 with the stock injectors. I seem to remember reading on the board somewhere that injectors with an EZ on an HO motor can be a problem with high cylinder pressures. Some are using the EZ only as a boost fooler.

Probably will hold off on installing the injectors until I decide what to do with the lift pump. Reading all the posts about the FASS very closely. Seems it may be the ticket. Besides, I have to do my work outside, and it just ain't very warm this time of year in Colorado!

Thanks again for the input.
