I switched inj. about 60k ago along with the tubes tourqued them to specs 28lbs and everything was fine. The other day I snmelled fuel, poped the hood and it looked as though all the line were leaking. Checked for torque value and they were 28lbs so I retightened to 30lbs and so far they haven't leaked only a couple hundred mi on. What,s up with that:confused: TIA

Jim

I have had nothing but leaks on the injector changes I have done and torqued to 28ft/lbs. In fact out of all the swaps I have done or helped on I have not had one NOT leak at 28ft/lbs. I use a german torque figure now, goodentight, and all leaks are history. When the next set goes in my truck I am going to replace the lines in the head and see if that helps, I have one line at 75 ft/lbs minimum:eek:  . No external leaks and no fuel in the oil, so it is OK, but I am not going down that road again.

Ive always torqued them good-n-tight and never had a leak, how could you even get to the #6 cyl with a torque wrench. I do torque the injector hold downs with a torque wrench,I notice if you torque the hold downs, then the tubes, recheck the holddowns, they alwasy lose a lot of torque after you tighten the tube/line connector. I alwasy recheck the hold downs again after tightenign the tube/connector.

Injector Line Torque

I have never used a torque wrench on the injector lines. Never had a leak, nor any problem resulting from overtightening. I use one arm and tighten about as hard as hard as that will get me.

Thanx all, Snowman you're rght #6 is a beach:) . My main concern was overtighting but that doesn't seem to be an issue. Hey THANX AGAIN

If you change injectors frequently you could damage the flared fitting that is pressed into the fuel rail. If it is slightly off and you use excessive torque you will deform the fitting on the fuel line as it is much softer than the fuel supply tube. I use about 35lbs of torque and if I have a leak I back off the nut and reposition the fuel line and retighten-works every time. Also the small rubber o-ring on the fuel supply tube hardens with time and heat. Fuel can get past these and leak out around the threads on the large nut. :D
