What are the symptons of a bad injector.

it is a light fuel knock sound. with an automatic, it is easy to hear, with a manual, it is harder to notice [i have a very slight injector knock]

with the auto, on a hot engine, idling in neutral listen to the engine, then put it in gear and listen to the engine when it is trying to idle @ ±100 rpm lower than in neutral. you will hear a fuel knock if you got a bad injector. as far as i am conserned, it isn't anything to worry about.

My 03 started "knocking" at around 49000. Just turned 53000 and still haven't taken it into the dealer. Those guys scare me!

Mine will top all of yours!!

I bought my truck on a Tuesday night and didnt even make it home with it. Was heading down the highway pushed in the clutch to slow down for a stoplight and it started running real rough. Got stopped it was still running rough, went to take off and it was pouring out black smoke like a 1940's coal train. Went to the salemens house had him looked at it. Told me to take it home and park it and they would come and get it the next day. Needless to say I about told him to keep the piece of *****. And give me back my trusty chevy that had never been in the shop. Long story short it took 3 days to get the truck back from the dealer. With a bad injector being the problem with only 68 miles on it. Was not a good way to get started with a diesel.

Ican beat all stories. My brother in law at21000 blew #4 and #2 and turbo, dealer replaced all, 5000 miles later, blew #6,replaced head and injector,1000 miles later blew #4 again, they replaced but htis time the damage was done, the truck wouldnt go over 50 miles an hour, they just replaced the long block and everything else, just got it back yesterday. My friend called me yesterday morning telling me he had fuel in his oil, obviously from previos experiences,i told him not to drive it and get it to the dealership, too late, popped 2 inj. and took the motor out. Long block ordered 30min ago

I can see at this point of the poll that ISB has had it share of injector problems,I hope cummins and bosch can get this work out to a much better percentage, the 6. 0 and the duramax seem to have a higher percentage of failures although the ISB has had it share of casualties.

8000 miles and the knock is there. Called dealer and asked if I should run some fuel additive and they said no and to bring it in so they can ck it out. Still thinking about it.
