I just installed a Diablo Sport Predator tune and Power Puck on my 04 Ram 2500 QC 4x4 6 spd. It has Banks 3' exhaust, Spearco intercooler, Banks High Ram air horn, Air Raid cold air intake. I tried it on all settings. It developed a shutter while I was driving it at constant speeds. It wouldn't do it under acceleration or deceleration but when I drive a constant say, 65 mph, I feel a shutter in the drive system. At first I thought I twisted a u joint or my driveshaft became unbalanced. I took it to a Dodge dealer by my house and he told me after $400 of diagnosis that 1 or more of my injectors have gone bad. He recommends changing all of them to a tune of $3500 since he can't locate which one is bad. I re-programed the truck to the original tune before I brought it in so that wasn't the problem. My questions are these:

1. Should I change the injectors out to upgraded ones? Any suggestions to which ones?

2. should I take it to a Cummins dealership near my house? I'm afraid they will come up with the same conclusion after another $400.

Any help would be appreciated!!! I need my Truck!!!

$400 to troubleshoot and the dealer could not ID the source of your problem? Ouch!

How many miles are on your truck? Any codes in the computer?

Do you have other symptoms of injector failure? ie: long cranking time, no start, smoke, or fuel in the oil?

Do you have a driveline shop nearby that specializes in driveshafts, etc? If you do your own work, you may want to remove the shaft and check the u-joints for binding. It is difficult to check for binding while the shaft is in the truck.

They can't determine which injector is bad so replace all of them? Man you need another dealer.

Did this problem start imediately after installing the Diablo? If so have you completely disconected it and does it change anything? How does it idle?

disconnected...

I disconnected everything that I put on it (Diablo Predator & Power Puck). I set everything back to the original tune. Same thing. Dealer was going through a checklist from the trouble shooting guide from Chrysler. He kept on getting to step #23 which says if you still have a problem after checking and testing all of the injectors individually, then refer back to step #10 which says "replace all six of the injectors". The truck is drivable. I don't have anytime to take it to Cummins until after June 9. It has 107K miles on it. I had two of the fuel injectors replaced under warranty at 55k miles. If anyone knows of another "reputable shop" in the Detroit area, let me know.

I don't buy it myself, if he is testing the injectors and they all test good why would you replace them? It could even be your FCA causing the problem. I know I would replace the FCA before replacing six injectors that the dealer can't find a problem with.

It could even be a transmission problem, TPS or lift pump issue.

Thanks...

I don't know what a FCA is? I ruled out trans. problem. Wouldn't everything went back to normal after I re-installed the factory tune from the Diablo?
