I will be installing the 215 injectors in my 95 Ram. I called the local Cummins parts store yesterday to see about buying an injector puller. I sure can, for about $75. 00. I can't justify that amount to use a tool one time. I imagine some of you out there with creative minds have found a good way to pull injectors, so thought I'd post and see what I can learn. By the way, I will be ordering a install kit from Piers. Thanks in advance.

I had the machine shop at work make a simple slide hammer using the same concept descibes by Koa Man and others. All it took was a couple of pulls to remove each injector.

If you can't find the materials (bolt, etc) I can let you borrow mine.

Just email me and I'll send it your way.

No-Brainer!!

Go to your local auto store. Buy the steel lug nuts for a VW Bus... cheap and simple. Now, screw the lug nut onto the top of the injector unside-down so the bevelled shoulder is facing up. This gives you a flat lip to get a long screwdriver or pry-bar under and the injector pops right out!! You can use the manifold bolt shoulders as a fulcrum. KISS principal at work!

I don't remember who posted this, but here is all you need for an injector puller: 1-3/16" long piece of 3/4" E. M. T. (electrical conduit), an m14x1. 5 metric nut, and a 3/4 washer. Slip the piece of conduit over the injector, install the washer and nut. Tighten the nut 3-4 turns to pull out the injector.

Lugg.......

I took one of my factory lugnuts and screwed it on up side down on the injector. Then took a long pry bar under the nut and on the head bolt and it poped right up! This works on all of the injectors too !:D

I'm with Chris Anderson. Thanks to all for the tips. I will probably have more than one of the methods ready when this transformation takes place. Should be a done deal. Thanks again. What a great resource the TDR is. It's a win win win win win for anyone that is a member. Oo. Oo.

A metric bolt about 4. 5-5" long in thread M14 x 1. 5 works with a deep lug nut of the same thread. This is the injector thread for 2nd gen 12 valves (first gen are M12 x 1. 5). Use a Dodge dually lug nut (it has 5/8 fine thread so slips over the bolt) with the shoulder up as the slide hammer.

You may get away with your Ram lug nuts but they are 9/16 x 18 thread so you are only using part of one thread. . . risky.
