Yes you can. Takes a 10mm (maybe 8mm, I forget offhand) allen wrench, and some attention paid to where the shaft is indexed in relation to the throttle bracket. There are bound to be some instructions somewhere around here. Look in the FAQsection, under VE performance stickie. Has good pics.
This WOULD be a good time to upgrade your throttle shaft bushing from the OEM brass to steel, but that is more involved, and while it can be done on the engine, it is better done off engine. And while you're in there, a 3200rpm spring is an easy swap. Then you may as well grind on the AFC foot and your fuel eccentric pin... ... .
OTOH, if your throttle shaft is leaking, other places may begin to leak. But they may not. The kit you need for the right size o-ring is DK121 from Bosch. Most injection shops can get this for <$20.
THANKS A BUNCH DPUCKETT. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 85 elcamino ss right now so I really don't have time to go complety thru the inj. pump. I,m thinking that with 220000 miles on the inj. pump that the throttle arm seal is the only seal I will need to service at the moment. As to the mods, my fuel screw has been turned in by a previous owner [i don't know how many turns] I rotated the fuel pin to max fueling and the afc is backed out completely. Performance is good for the way I drive/use the truck: minimal smoke on accel. w/stock turbo. The only other mods I am considering is to upgrade the turbo when it's due and a full 4in. sidepipe. and poss. a small injector upgrade also. Thanks again for your reply.
I could have chosen a better simile, I'm not sticking my toungue out at you. I was looking for one to symbolize [duh, I'm not real up on these pumps but with your help I think I can muddle thru the repair]
